Queens of Silk by Osama Silwadi is a photographic exploration and celebration of traditional Palestinian women’s costumes made from silk. The book presents vivid, carefully composed portraits of women wearing richly embroidered silk dresses, accessories, and jewelry from various regions of Palestine. Alongside the imagery, Silwadi documents the craftsmanship, color palettes, stylistic details, and regional variations in silk costume design, highlighting how attire functions as a marker of identity, heritage, and artistry. The work aims both to preserve a visual archive of clothing that might otherwise fade, and to honor the women whose traditions and aesthetics have maintained these cultural expressions through generations.
